Who is Dirk?
Dirk Scheele makes popsongs for children aged between 2 and 8 years. He has been playing shows in big and small venues in The Netherlands for more than 25 years. Dirk has his own daily music television programme on Nickelodeon and a very popular YouTube channel with more than 40k subscribers. His succes in The Netherlands motivated him to start recording English versions of his songs, which are available on his Spotify and English YouTube channel.
Dirk started his career as a rock guitarist, singer, guitar teacher and music therapist for children with special needs. He started writing songs for these children. However, all kids appeared to love his songs so much that he got a record deal at EMI Music/Universal.
Theatre shows and concerts
Dirk is a fulltime performer and plays shows every weekend in theatres and clubs in Holland, like the Dutch Paradiso in Amsterdam and TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht. He also travels to foreign countries like Belgium and Germany to play on festivals or special events. Dirk performs solo, together with a band and with puppeteers. He is also well known for his songs and theatre shows about Dikkie Dik – a famous Dutch cat, created by illustrator Jet Boeke.
Music and videos on YouTube, Spotify and Apple Music
Dirk wrote, recorded and released 25 CD’s with his own Dutch children’s songs, using music styles like rock, pop, blues, reggae, folk, metal, dance, classic, jazz and rock & roll. Lately he has translated his famous Dutch songs into English and German, which can be found on Spotify and Apple Music.
Dirk loves to play the guitar. During concerts he also entertains children by creating all kinds of realistic sounds with his guitar: animals, nature, traffic and filmatic sounds. Fans have called him Steve Vai for kids, the Jimi of the Lowlands for kids or the Dutch Dan Zanes. Dirk has an endorsement at Ibanez Guitars. Despite his busy schedule he still rocks with his friends in bands like Whroumm and Guitar Fever.
